Fixing systems

Their objective is to achieve a safe and reliable connection between the cladding and the structure bearing in mind that sufficient design clearance to accommodate all anticipated tolerances both in the structure itself as well as in the cladding and insulation materials must be taken into consideration.  This is of importance at an early stage of the design work.

Stone is a product of nature and variations in color and markings are features that make every installation unique.   Therefore physical and mechanical characteristics must be verifying the resistance to bending, compression, stretching, frost, fire etc. Additionally, the location of the building and its exposure to strong winds, the sea (alkalis salts), main roads (exhaust fumes-sulphur) and earthquakes determine the properties of stone tile to be used.

The grid can be equally subdivided according to the building’s frame openings either in vertical or lateral (horizontal) axels.  This must be done symmetrically and in harmony, or rather coaxially and the tiles must be cut to custom size.

Dimensions of the stone tiles must neither be small (like ceramic tiles), nor too large (overweight). Experience has shown that approximately 90% of a square meter is a recommended maximum size.  There is no regulatory limit and it is entirely the designer’s own responsibility.
